Gelfert Oil Workshop Sept. 19 - 21

June 8th, 2008 · No Comments

The Irving Art Association presents a three day workshop with nationally recognized oil painter Judy Gelfert at the Jaycee Center for the Arts, 2000 West Airport Frwy., Irving TX on September 19, 20 & 21, 2008. Preferring oils as her medium, Judy paints in a loose, impressionistic style. By concentrating on value, color, and design, she aims to produce realistic effects of light and shadow with as little actual detail as possible. “I am inspired by light and its power to create a particular atmosphere, be it the serenity of a hill-side in summer, the bustle of a morning farmers’ market, or the coldness amid the shadows of a snowy street.”

A full-time artist residing in Arlington, Judy has shown her work on the local and national level, winning numerous awards, among them 1st Place in the National Society of Artists’ 22nd National Juried Competition near Houston, 2nd in Show at the 2004 Associated Creative Artists Juried Competition in Dallas, and 1st Place People’s Choice Award at the 39-Hour Biennial Art Exhibition 2004 in Fort Worth. In 2005 and 2006, Judy was accepted to show works in the prestigious Oil Painters of America National Juried Competition. For more about Judy, see her website at www.judygelfert.com.

Then they will commence with their paintings. Judy will offer individual instruction throughout the afternoon.

Day 2: Focus: Color relationships, Types of Light, Edges
Students will continue working on their paintings, and Judy will offer individual instruction, focusing today on color, mood-creating light, and brushstrokes.
