
At the IAA members meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 27 Nell Byrd will be giving a watercolor demo. She was also scheduled to give a followup workshop, but it has been cancelled.
NEL DORN BYRD, AWS

Nel studied art at Midland Institute of Fine Arts, Richland College, and the University of Texas at Dallas. She has studied with many watercolor instructors, traveling and painting in twelve different countries. Nel co-operated a successful art gallery and frame shop for twenty one years.
Her paintings have been accepted in over two hundred juried regional and national exhibitions and she has received numerous awards and honors. Nel is a signature member of several watercolor societies and her work has been included in many publications and books. Her paintings are in corporate and private collections throughout the United States. For more information see her website: NelDornByrd.com.
Nel paints in a loose, impressionistic style and her works often depict strong light and dark patterns with the play of light giving excitement and interest to any subject.

Beginning January 11, 2010, award-winning oil painter Judy Gelfert will teach her impressionist techniques at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts in Irving, Texas. Irving Art Association is proud to present the Unconditional Love - 1st Annual Juried Pet Art Show 2009 at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts from August 30 through September 24, 2009. More than 80 pieces of artwork are on display in both galleries. You are invited to the Reception & Awards Ceremony on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Members, please bring finger food for reception.

A pet is considered to be a domestic animal that you care for daily and shows you unconditional love. Not animals in a field or wildlife. Examples of pets are dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, parrots, parakeets, fish in your home aquarium, ferrets, etc. For more about entry requirements, see the Prospectus.

The Annual Irving Main Street Event will be held on Saturday. September 26. 2009 • I to 7 p.m. near Heritage Park at Second & Main Streets in downtown Irving.
Irving Art Association with have booths with tents. If you plan to participate PLEASE contact ASAP Beverly Fuqua at 972-793-7503 immediately.
Please keep in mind:
Bring small pieces of art marked at a reasonable price
Demonstrate your talents while there (folks like to see artists painting)
There will be two 3-hour shifts, so you won’t have to stay the whole 6 hours.
Bring colds drinks to hydrate yourself
Artists receive exposure, opportunity to exhibit your skills, and artwork. (For electricity, must bring long extension cords, and bring drinks to stay hydrated.) IAA receives 10% of all sales.
